There are many things to do while you are our sailing vacation to the British Virgin Islands and fishing is just one of them! There is lots of joy and excitement to be had while fishing on your crewed yacht vacation but there are a few things to know before you begin.
There over 300 aquatic species in and around the BVI waters, but the removal of any marine organism from the beautiful blue BVI waters is illegal for any non-BVI resident without a recreational fishing permit. The British Government created a law making it mandatory for guest to have a fishing license. So, before you can partake any kind of fishing activity you must purchase a 30-day fishing license ahead of time.
For the more serious fisherman, you can rent equipment locally to bring along. You can rent these items by clicking here as well as organize your fishing permit and much more. Keep in mind while sailing you are not able to stop the boat right away and in the case, you do hook a large fish you may need heavier gear to tow the fish until the boat comes to a stop, but if you monitor your line closely you shall have nothing to worry about.
While fishing in the deeper waters of the British Virgin Islands you can find marlin, wahoo, barracuda, tuna, sailfish, king mackerel, or mahi-mahi. While fishing at anchor it is possible to catch spanish mackerel, grouper, snapper, triggerfish and much more!

"This is a wonderful experience. We have sailed the BVI 4 times, this was my favorite sailing trip. We had not hired a captain for our prior trips as one of our crew is an expert sailor. Captain Steve and Chef Andrea made all the difference. Captain Steve has excellent knowledge of the islands, he brought us to great snorkeling spots, pointed out hiking opportunities and he is resourceful. Our food on board was outstanding and varied. The entire crew preferred food on board to most of the area restaurants. In addition, Chef Andrea is a pleasure to be around. Ask for them, your sailing vacation awaits you." - Joan S., Missouri, February 2020
